The R35 GT-R Dry Carbon Roof is now in production. Prepreg dry carbon has been used to form a stronger carbon product. Compared to the stock metal plate this product is 4.9kg lighter and proves to be just as strong.
Prepreg dry carbon uses carbon fiber material impregnated with resin, applied to a mold in a bag with a vacuum and baked in a pressurized oven to form and cure. Product formed with this method is often found in high-end race cars.
By applying a smoke finish to our super clear coating, when looked at from a distance it looks as though itﾕs Piano Black, but when outside and exposed to sunlight you can see the carbon weaves pattern.
Material : Dry Carbon
Made of dry carbon, this carbon roof provides the ultimate weight reduction and the strength, as well as the exceptional look as you can expect from Mine's. The roof's structure and strength have been fully tested to pass the Japanese safety standard.
The weight of the dry carbon roof is 4.9kg (about 11 pound) lighter than the stock metal sheet. The weight of the stock roof and carbon roof are 7.0kg and 2.1kg respectively. Even with this huge weight reduction, nothing is sacrificed on the strength. The dry carbon roof is as strong as the stock roof.
It is available without coating, with the super clear coating , or with black smoke coating. The black smoke coating is the super clear coating with smoke color treatment. From a distant view, it looks like the piano black color, but with a closer look under the sunlight, you can see the carbon weave. The uncoated version is for the customers who would like to paint the carbon roof. Otherwise, Mine's recommends either the super clear coating version or the black smoke coating version.
It is to be attached to the roof structure by the professional strength adhesive. The stock roof has to be removed before installing the Mine's carbon roof. This is not an add-on to the stock roof.
